[ἡ βουλ]<ὴ> τῶ[ν ἑξακοσίων κ]-
αὶ ὁ δῆμος Ἀθην[αΐδα] Διοκλέο[υς]
τοῦ Θεμιστοκλέους δᾳδούχου
5 Ἁγνουσίου φιλοκαίσαρος καὶ φιλ-
[ο]πάτριδος θυγατέρα ἡρωείνην
σωφροσύνης ἕνεκα.

Dedication of a statue to Athenais by the Areopagos, the boule of 600 and the Athenian demos. Athenais was daughter of the philokaisar and philopatris Diokles and paternal granddaughter of the dadouch Themistokles. She was also praised for her moderation and was acclaimed as ‘heroine’, thus receiving heroic honours, perhaps because of her premature death. |
