Base of white (‘Pentelic’) marble. Dedication of a statue to Claudia Menandra by the Areopagus, the boule of 500 and the Athenian demos, on account of her virtue. Claudia Menandra was member of a prominent Athenian family, being the daughter of the dadouch Claudius Philippos, grand-daughter of Claudius Demostratos and descendant of Aelius Praxagoras.
