Fragment of a marble base. Dedication of a statue to an unknown woman by the Areopagos, the boule and the Athenian demos on account of her moderation. Kirchner and Kajava 1990, 82, 118, n. 46 claim that the woman honoured was a Roman (Kajava believes that she was of senatorial rank), but this identification cannot be confirmed on the basis of the fragmentary epigraphic text. The honourand could equally have been an Athenian and a Greek in general, cf. Siekierka - Stebnicka - Wolicki 2021, 201, n. 44. |
