   Comments:

Base with cymatia bearing a honourific inscription dedicated by the polis of Sparta for Aurelia Charteris in her memory and in recognition of her moderation, wifely affection (φιλανδρία) and all her other virtues. On Aurelia Charteris, see Bradford, 452 (2). Her husband, Marcus Aurelius Kleandros, also known as Menios was pantaprotos, aristos, eponymous patronomos and boagos, RP II, LAC 115. Her father, Aurelius Aristoteles was ephor, RP II, LAC 99. Marcus Aurelius Euporos, who was most probably her son, was patronomos, RP II, LAC 135.
