Μεμμίαν Ξενοκράτιαν
Δεξιμάχου τέκνων δίκαιον
[ἔ]χ̣ουσα̣[ν], Ἑστίαν πόλεως, <ἱ>έρ̣-
5 [εια]ν κατὰ γένος, ἀρχηίδα καὶ
[θεω]ρὸν <δ>ιὰ βίου τοῦ σεμνοτά̣-
[του] ἀγῶνος τῶν Ὑακιν<θ>ί̣ων,
[σωφ]ροσύνη̣ς τ̣[ε] καὶ σεμνό[τητος]

Base decorated with a cymatium at top and bottom, bearing an honourific inscription set up by the polis for the hereditary priestess Memmia Xenokratia in recognition of her female virtues: σωφροσύνη, σεμνότης and any other virtue among women. She bore the ius trium liberorum and was honoured as Hestia poleos, and served as archeis and theoros for life of the Hyakinthia. |
