Part of a round (cylindrical?) base of white (‘Pentelic’) marble with relief of a garlanded boukranion below the inscription. Dedication to Zeus Hypsistos on behalf of Zopyra and Anthesterios or Zopyra, daughter of Anthesterios. There are more dedications to the god during the imperial period, originating probably from the sanctuary of Zeus Hypsistos at the former meeting place of the Assembly on the Pnyx which date from the first, and mostly to the second and third centuries CE, see IG II3 4, 1239-1276. |
