Priestess |
Base of white (‘Pentelic’) marble. The Athenian boule and demos honoured Tertia, daughter of Lucius, who was errephoros, hearth-initiate and kanephoros at the Eleusinian Mysteries and the Epidaurian. The dedication is dated after the priesthood of Stratokleia, see IG II2 3497, ll. 9-10 for a homonymous priestess in the 1st c. BCE. If they are the same persons, then this inscription can be dated in the early 1st c. CE. |
