Base of white (‘Pentelic’) marble. Dedication of a statue to the hearth-initiate Poplia Aelia Herennia by her homonymous mother. The honorand claimed to descend from the illustrious Athenian military men Konon and Kallimachos. According to the epigraphic text, her statue was set up next to that of her great-uncle, the dadouch Poplius Aelius Dionysios. She was also daughter of Poplius Aelius Apollonius who was eponymous archon, basileus, hoplite general, epimeletes of the gymnasiarchia and herald of the Areopagos. |
