   Comments:

Statue base in honour of M. Aurelius Timaco (RP II, LAC 190 [2]), whose statue was set up by the city of Sparta and funded by his άξιολογωτάτη wife, Aurelia […]so[.]ete. On the woman, see Bradford, 80. The date is calculated due to prosopographical considerations by Spawforth 1984, 272 n. 50. Although her nomen is not preserved, the inscription’s dating in the late Severan period suggests the restoration of Aurelia. Her cognomen is too badly mutilated to be restored with certainty. The husband was praised in the epigraphic text, because he made many achievements for the polis as ambassador to the emperors. We also know from another epigraphic text that he served as a synpatronomos.
