   Comments:

Plain square block with honourific inscription for Memmia Damokratia on account of her moderation and care for her husband. Her statue was dedicated by her husband L. Volussenus Damares. On Memmia Damokratia, see Bradford, 120 (4). It has been proposed that the statue was originally set up on the Eleusinion on the basis of the inscription’s location. According to Spawforth 1985, 220-221, Memmia Damokratia was daughter of P. Memmius Pratolaos (III) (RP II, LAC 574 and RP I, ARG 190) and Memmia Pasichareia (RP II, LAC 543), the sister of the boagos, nomophylax and eponymous patronomos P. Memmius Deximachos (III) (RP II, LAC 560) and Memmia Timosthenis (RP II, LAC 544) and the wife of L. Volussenus Damares (III) (RP II, LAC 731) and most probably mother of the eponymous patronomos L. Volussenus Aristokrates (III) (RP II, LAC 730).
